As a private, non-profit (501(c)(4) social welfare) corporation, SITPA employs seven fulltime and up to twenty seasonal employees annually. SITPA contributes directly to the economies of Adams and Valley counties. Privately insured, the corporation is managed by a Board of Directors elected from its members. SITPA provides forest landowners a voice in how their land is protected from wildfire. SITPA employees meet or exceed NWCG and IDL 310-1 qualifications and standards.
SITPA's staffing includes a Warden, Deputy Warden, Executive Administrator, Equipment Manager, Administrative Assistant, two Fire Operations Specialists (FOS), two equipment operators, five Engine Captains, two Lead Firefighters, and eighteen firefighters.
SITPA operates five Type 6 fire engines, one Fire Suppression Module, three water tenders, two crew trucks, three bull dozers, two excavators, one loader, two tractor-trailer transports, four ATVs, and one UTV. SITPA operates two fire detection cameras located at the top of Brundage and Tamarack resorts. SITPA has stations in McCall and Cascade. SITPA oversees two fire lookouts located on Brundage and Lookout mountains and the historic McCall Firefighter Bunkhouse.
SITPA employs many individuals across a range of jobs for wildland fire. We hire new firefighters every season and strive to provide a quality base of training and education, including with our partners through the Payette National Forest, the Great Basin Coordination Center, and the National Interagency Fire Center. We operate within the Great Basin region. Having stations in McCall and Cascade, Idaho allows us to efficiently respond to a large area. Our district includes Valley County, Adams County, and Idaho County.
